I love learning about outdated or obsolete scientific theories, from liquid heat to the four humours. In retrospect, a lot of the ideas sound kind of like they belong in a fantasy setting, so that's what I made! I put together this collection of 12 magic items for the fifth edition of a popular fantasy RPG I am not allowed to name for legal reasons. Although the rules text contained within is intended to be compatible with the aforementioned fifth edition of a specific unnamed game, the idea behind many of the items should be easily portable to other systems with less restrictive licenses, and at the low low price of nothing, why not have a read and mine it for ideas?

Included are five consumable items based on various conceptions of heat, cold, and disease from history; four pieces of equipment based on the theory of humorism, and three miscellaneous items based on some of my favourite discredited theories that didn't really fit in another category.

Accompanying the items are brief science notes giving a quick outline of the theory each item is based on and an idea of why it was wrong. It's by no means an encyclopaedic information dump, but it's supposed to give you just enough information for you to research more if you're interested.

The fancy PDF is more traditonal formatting for this sort of thing, in a two-column layout with images and a textured background. The low formatting PDF is a plain white background, single column layout, and the aesthetic use of the long S is reduced to simply the title.
